How can a fox ever be happy without a chicken in its teeth?

I watched Fantastic Mr Fox this week. It was the first proper book I ever learnt to read, so I was expecting to be let down by the movie. But its beautiful and heart-warming and quirky and beautiful. Go watch.

"They say all foxes are slightly allergic to linoleum, but it's cool to the paw - try it.
They say my tail needs to be dry cleaned twice a month, but now it's fully detachable - see?
They say our tree may never grow back, but one day, something will.
Yes, these crackles are made of synthetic goose and these giblets come from artificial squab and even these apples look fake - but at least they've got stars on them.
I guess my point is, we'll eat tonight, and we'll eat together. And even in this not particularly flattering light, you are without a doubt the five and a half most wonderful wild animals I've ever met in my life.
So let's raise our boxes - to our survival."

"Ash, I know what it's like to feel...different."
"I'm not different, am I?"
"We all are...
But there's something kind of fantastic
about that, isn't there?"

I don't know what to write about today.

You know those horribly cynical people who hate romantic comedies and spit on couples in streets? Yeah I'm one of those. But these couples make me (secretly) believe.

Juno MacGuff: I think I'm, like, in love with you.
Paulie Bleeker: You mean as friends?
Juno MacGuff: No, I mean, like, for real. 'Cause you're, like, the coolest person I've ever met, and you don't even have to try, you know...
Paulie Bleeker: I try really hard, actually.

[neither understands the other's language]
Jamie: [in English] It's my favorite time of day, driving you.
Aurelia: [in Portuguese] It's the saddest part of my day, leaving you.

Norah: Are you sad that we missed it?
Nick: We didn't miss it. This is it.
[they kiss]

Jack Skellington: My dearest friend, if you don't mind... I'd like to join you by your side. Where we can gaze into the stars...
Sally: And sit together, now and forever. For it is plain, as anyone can see. We're simply meant to be.

Harold Crick: [runs to Ana the baker with a box of 10 paper bags in it] I'm glad I caught you. I wanted to give you these.
Ana Pascal: Wait, you can give presents, but not receive them? That sounds awfully inconsistent, Mr. Crick.
Harold Crick: Yes, but...
Ana Pascal: Wait, I know, I'll purchase them! Yeah, I'll purchase them.
Harold Crick: No, no, no, no.
Ana Pascal: [with wallet in hand, stops to actually look at the box] What are they?
Harold Crick: [quietly] Flours.
Ana Pascal: What?
Harold Crick: I brought you flours.
Ana Pascal: Wait, you carried them all the way here?
Harold Crick: Miss Pascal, I've been odd. I know I've been odd, and I know that there are many forces at work telling me to bring these down here to you, but I brought these for you because... I want you.
Ana Pascal: Excuse me?
Harold Crick: I want you.
Ana Pascal: You want me?
Harold Crick: In no uncertain terms.
Ana Pascal: But isn't there some... I don't know...rule about fraternization?
Harold Crick: Auditor / Auditee protocols, yes, but I don't care.
Ana Pascal: Why not?
Harold Crick: Because I want you.
Ana Pascal: [contemplates him for a second, and looks back at the box] Can you carry those a little bit further?
Harold Crick: Okay.

Joel: I could die right now, Clem. I'm just... happy. I've never felt that before. I'm just exactly where I want to be...I loved you on this day. I love this memory.

Andrew: I don't want to waste another moment of my life without you in it.
